That is your opinion (unless you are a world reknown scientist, but from your posts I would doubt that highly), which is not the opinion of the science community at large. Because that exception you note is the exception that makes us not animals.
Again another demonstration of your lack of knowledge, but I'm not calling you dumb, stupid, or a noob.

As much as I'd hate to say this, I don't believe this is going to stop.
My suggestion would be to try and protect at least your team. When you get a group together suggest that everyone turns off all thier chat channels but the team channel.

Well there is a way to disable windows shortcut keys when running a program, I don't remember off the top of my head, but I can look it up,
I guess Anet could put an option's screen in where you can disable/enable Certain key combinations in GW
"For the End of the World Spell, press ctrl + Alt + Del "

Oh I'm sorry, unless you're referring to Gemstone III, or some other worthless antediluvian MUD. Really, do you have to back up every single argument with "I'm so much older than all of you and therefore I know better"?
And honestly, any PvPer who "retires" to PvE probably wasn't much of one in the first place.

You're absolutely right, Darren -- I took you off ignore thinking maybe you weren't really that big an ass. My mistake.
As to the rest, let's just say the day some zit like you bothers me there'll be snowball fights in hell.

Ummm, actually this does happen alot in real life (no not the playing tricks on a blind person). It's pretty much an initiation into computer gaming.
I've seen group initiations for various things, from gang initiations being covered on the news, to the frat initiations in university (I'm not from America, I dunno if you guys actually do the stuff on tv and in films, but I'll offer that as an example)
The admins for a lan party once duct taped a guy up in his sleeping bag and put him on a trolly, and sent him up to the top floor of the hotel because he was the new guy.
If you've ever been asked to go get the glass nails or something equaly useless in your working life, then that's the same too.
Just deal with it, it is actually just harmless fun, whether good taste or not. I bet most of the people in this thread have done it once (How do you think they know that key combo so well? )
Whether you like it or not, it is a part of life, and it hardens most people up a bit after something like that has happened to them, and gives them an edge that they need to cope with reality. So yeah, just chill.

Just because something "happens a lot" and "everyone does it" does not make it right. Slavery use to "happen a lot" and "everyone was doing it." And that list can be pretty long of the things that use to "happen a lot" and "everyone was doing it."
But as civilizations grow they realize that something are not for the betterment of the community.
BTW hazing in fraternities and sororities is illegal in the US.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but this is not an initiation ritual as is evidenced by the responses in this post which therefore negates your "it's an initiation" argument. People actually use it regularly in PVP as part of their "tactics."
"it is actually just harmless fun" - is it only harmless because there was no damage that can be viewed by the harmer's eye? All "harmless fun" causes damage, most of which is not visible to the human eye.

Whoa. I thought for a minute there you were actually comparing a terminated video game to slavery. Is this a joke? You really think an internet prank is comparable to the systematic enslavement of an entire people, that you have the right to put them on the same level?
Chill. Out. You just went overboard by a lightyear, and your comment about "all harmless fun causing damage" strikes me as particularly unsettling... I guess you're in favor of outlawing drinking, or partying? How about theme parks? Clowns are fun, can't have them walking about! Why don't we all just live like the Amish? Hell, if that's what you think, what the hell are you doing playing computer games? Won't the radiation fry your eyeballs, or some such nonsense?

BTW how did you learn the shortcuts? Probably not from someone playing a evil, childish prank.
|
I admit I don't know all the windows shortcuts, but if I had fallen for it, then I deserved to fall for it. I actually did learn this command from a prank too, I believe it was StarCraft, but instead of pressing it, I actually asked somebody else on my team what it did. People need to learn to think a bit and use some common sense. Why would you trust anything your opponent says, especially on the internet. If they fell for this, they'll at least learn what this does and know not to press it in the future.
I'm not advocating going around and making people drop. My point is, the internet is not a nice place. If someone told them to download a file to gain invincibility, they'd probably do it and get a trojan in their computer. It's better to learn not to be too trusting of people online from a simple drop incident, than from getting your computer hacked.

hilarious, some people will learn to use a computer the hard way. The windows key is a far more difficult problem, because even though you know it's there, it still gets misaction due to location. Both are windows functions and should not be tampered with, it is a resource to override exsisting programs.
This is a problem of mis-information, players should learn, otherwise you can try to deprogram your computer functions on a personal lvl, since knowing is enough to avoid such a stupid mistake then nobody actually needs to remove it.

I just want to add that all those people who laugh at others for not knowing something, such as ALT-F4 give everyone with good intentions in GW a bad name. Lots of CHILDREN don't know what it is because they don't have the experience of it.
YOU have the experience and knowledge. And to laugh at others who don't have that knowledge - why not just go to the local trailerpark and make fun of others who haven't had your advantages...... etc. etc.
TEACH others, and the rewards will be great. LAUGH at others at your own expense.

I learned this from someone doing it to me (diablo 1, I believe?). I laughed, learned my lesson, and went on my way. You're acting like there's f4 nazis forcing people to press it. This isn't the second coming of christ, it's a windows shortcut. Stop getting so excited.

Think of this F4 thing simply as Darwin's Theory at work.
Some are fit, and some aren't. Besides, you don't want people that can be suckered so easily in your PvP group anyway. Temporary inconvenience notwithstanding, your group will be better for it on the long run.
Be better, or be bitter, your choice.

Again this is what I say. I think in reality the person who can't accept the truth of this Electronic Darwinian-like Theory, perhaps it is they who dropped their game and then posted all this. Everyone else here seems smart enough not to use alt-F4. However they just want to take their frustration out on someone else instead.

I remember when I was 10 playing Diablo 2.
"Drop your item, press ALT-F4 and it will be duped."
As everyone's stated, I've never done it since then! It only takes once ... no matter the age. On a related note, has anyone ever heard of the Darwin Awards?
Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice for ultamegacool god mode!
